Biography.

Having self-taught, I began my journey as a writer at eighteen, and via a career change I went on to study the craft further at college and university. I use writing as a means to understanding myself, and as a voice of inspiration to others. The ongoing adventure of my heart, mind and soul truly defines the limitless possibilities I believe that the craft has to offer.

One of the false philosophies I’ve found is from certain people automatically assuming that writing is easy and comes naturally to writers. For me, it is one of the greatest challenges attempting to portray my thoughts and emotions via language. A majority of the time I find it very frustrating, and my work doesn’t come out how I would want it to.

I think it was Vicky Feaver that once said: “I’m never prolific. I find it an incredible struggle to put experience into language. Maybe anger and sadness can act as catalysts. There has to be some momentum to push me along - something powerful enough to overcome the negative, self-critical voices in me that say “you can’t do it, it’s not even worth trying.””

Even in the “finished” pieces, there is always some room to nit-pick, which is why I never think of any of my work as finalised. What you will see on this site however, is the poetry and prose I’ve spent many hours developing from the original seams.

Subject wise, my writing can range from anything: domestic chores, news headlines, relationships, paedophilia, 80’s action movies, and literary realism; whereas the style can be Metatextual, Ekphrasis, an Emotionally Charged Parody, or even done as a Drunken Stream of Consciousness.

I live for moments; my inspiration is constantly changing, along with my work. Particularly, I owe a great deal of respect to my Mother and Father, who raised me into the man I am today, and I hope that one day I will be able to pass the knowledge they’ve given me onto my own children.
