As I become older, I find that I am veering more towards political poetry, rather than the misanthropic writings of my late-teenage/mid-twenties years. Below are the efforts that came after the anti-racist/anti-fascist compilations Paki Lover and Somewhere In-between Misanthropy & Anti-Fascism.
-- 'Avoid The St. George's Day Pubs' [2012]
-- 'On The Train To Bradford' [2012]
(see the books The Innocence Of Not Wanting To Live or Die and But, Mother Doesn't Know).
-- 'I Slept With Alesha Dixon's Sister (Part-Blaxploitation Porn)' [2011]
-- 'Doing It For The Chicks' [2009]
-- 'Whatever You Put Out You Will Get Back' [2009]
-- 'Marching On Together (A Tribute To Gary Speed)' [2011] Modern football’s shit
and the community’s broken [...] but we're a team of hopefuls.
-- 'The (Virtual) Wanker In The Black' [2011] Collaborative effort between myself and Mr. Will Murray, inspired by the FIFA video game.
-- 'Lone Wolf' [2009] Searching... always searching...
-- 'Fuck You, My Mother Died' [2009] The scribblings of a cynical bastard.
-- 'Some Kind Of Lesson' [2009] A poem written at the end of a female's bed.
-- 'Call It "Therapy"' [2009] I don't need a shrink.
-- 'Jazz & Red Wine' [2008] Freeing the imagination via the means of poetry and alcohol.
-- 'Necronomicon IV' [2007] Ekphrastic poetry based on a popular work of art by Alien surrealist painter/sculptor H.R. Giger.
-- 'Oh Me' [2007] Written from the perspective of an “insignificant character” without a voice, from a well-known literary novel/play, in response to a Creative Writing seminar task at University. I chose Rosaline from Romeo & Juliet.
