"I like films that make me think, films that don't."
My friends tend to complain at the distinct lack of new-age "Comedies" -- particularly those containing a romantic element -- in my DVD collection. Equally confusing, to them, is the overabundance of movies from the Action and Science-Fiction genres.
I've been a fan of Action movies, primarily, as far back as I can remember. They were escapist, in the sense that they defined logic; they were also the source of my early imagination as a writer. In the school playground my friends and I used to always fantasize about being the next Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone, just so we could have the opportunity to kick some arse for a lot of money. I used to write short stories and film scripts purely to add to my entertainment and express my love for the movies I grew up with.
Science-Fiction (and Cyberpunk) was something I caught onto in my early-twenties -- in what I dub "my geeky final year at University". It was then that I attempted, on numerous occasions, to understand the concept of time travel. Still, to this day, it baffles me.
Film reviewing is something I do in-between spells of poetry and story writing: I either go to the cinema or put on a DVD at home, make notes as I watch, and then type up the finished article afterwards. Primarily, I review the film only, but I do sometimes make odd references to the special features and restored footage present on the version of the DVD I have just watched (the overall rating, howver, still counts towards the quality of the film, not the amount of extras present).
I make it my mission to review every movie on my shelf, and then some. Considering that my DVD collection is becoming completely absurd, you'll most likely find that this section of my website gets updated more than any other.

Dave and I after the Rambo premier, 2008. Yeah, it rocked.
