Considering the seriousness of Public Enemy's music and the amount of political activism the group partake in on a regular basis, you may be wondering if its members actually get time to have any "fun"?

That very question is answered on their latest single, 'Never Gonna Get It If You Ain't Got it', which is a collaboration between frontman Chuck D and turntabilist/DJ Lord Aswod.

This joint reminds me of the old-school days of Hip-Hop, complete with funk samples, plenty of cuts and the emcee rocking the crowd with the mic.

The drum beat is basic, but the production is nevertheless made complex by Lord's awesome vinyl-desecrating experiments, proving that the DJ is very much the backbone of Hip-Hop; while Chuck D raps with authority, devoting his rhymes to his love of the game and giving props to the man on the wheels of steel.

'Never Gonna Get It' is an enjoyable little number, and will keep fans anticipating the new PE album later on this year.
